Uncle Siong Kopitiam, located in the heart of Taman Tunku, Miri, is a bustling café that has caught the attention of local food enthusiasts. With a menu that celebrates authentic Malaysian flavors, the standout dish here is undoubtedly the Kolo Mee, available in various forms. Customers rave about the perfectly stir-fried noodles served with fresh vegetables and a savory sauce, with prices starting at MYR 7.00.
However, the café isn't without its flaws. Some diners have noted cleanliness issues, particularly with flies, which detracts from the overall experience. Reviews indicate that while dishes like the wet fried kueh tiaw and mee kolo merah are decent, they fall short of the bold flavors that many expect. As Zila Uding Petrus points out, the laksa is a must-try for its deliciousness, a testament to the café's capable kitchen.
Service quality seems to vary, with wait times for food occasionally stretching to 20 minutes, making it essential for patrons to plan accordingly. Ultimately, Uncle Siong Kopitiam delivers a mix of traditional favorites and a vibrant atmosphere, but be prepared for a bit of a wait. Whether you're a Miri local or just passing through, this café remains a noteworthy stop for a taste of home-style Malaysian cuisine.

Based on 379 reviewsUncle Siong Kopitiam is widely recognized as a popular breakfast spot in the Taman Tunku area, attracting steady crowds with its signature local dishes such as mee merah, laksa, and wet fried kueh tiaw. Customers frequently praise the flavorful offerings and variety of meat options, including traditional ingredients. While the food quality is generally well-received, some feedback points to certain dishes being average or lacking distinctiveness in flavor. The kopitiam’s ambiance is described as cozy, with good ventilation, though occasional concerns about cleanliness and pest control have been noted. Service is considered adequate but occasionally slow during peak hours, reflecting the high patronage. Overall, Uncle Siong Kopitiam maintains a strong reputation as a favored local eatery with room for improvement in service efficiency and hygiene standards.
Very nice mee merah. Among the best in miri. But my gosh the place has so many flies!
Their wet fried kueh tiaw is just okay, tastes like char style but wet style. It contains lots of meat including pork's inner organs. The sauce for this wet fried kueh tiaw is just normal, not too salty and nothing special about it. For their mee kolo merah special which is cost about RM8, it tastes just okay and nothing special about the red part of it, merah part. Its redness tastes less sweet than any kolo mee merah I've ever tried. I prefer mee kolo merah that tastes sweet abit with salty meat to balance it out. Nothing's special on the red merah part. For the special part of this mee kolo merah, the meat portion is okay and tastes in balance because the way they cook it. For the beverages, i tried tea c special, and it is okayand average taste and not too sweet for my taste which is good. As many reviewers said before, waiting for food is a thing for this kopitiam. If you are in a hurry, i advise not to go here, or you will have to wait for extra 10-20mins for mee kolo especially.
Famous kopitiam in taman tunku area. Always packed full of people during bfast. The food is really good
Delicious as usual ! One of laksa you guys should try in Miri
Ordered 1) Kolok mee goreng (9/10) 2) Ice coffee (9/10) 3) Ice lemon tea (8/10) 4) Mee goreng basah (8/10) Cleanliness (8/10) Service (7/10 because we ordered Kolok mee & it took them 20min or more to deliver it) It’s a small shop with high ceiling so it’s not that hot.
I recommend their Laksa Sarawak—it’s flavorful and delicious. The place tends to be crowded in the morning, but the service speed is reasonable.
Laksa and coffee ice taste good here. Came here for breakfast, most table fully occupied, wait for quite some times due to many people. Good food, recommended place to try
Staff very friendly and quick to take orders as soon as you sit down. The food is phenomenal and it does not cost much to fill your belly. Really worth the try if you're looking for a place to have big breakfast!
